I applied for the Afghan e-visa with my Hungarian passport through the new Afghan e-visa portal on Sunday, 15 March 2026, and received it in 3 hours and 10 minutes.

It’s very impressive how quickly the Afghan visa was processed.

1. AFGHANISTAN E-VISA APPLICATION PORTAL FOR TOURISTS

Apply here:

https://eafghans.com/e-visa/

2. E-VISA VALIDITY

Currently, you can enter Afghanistan with the e-visa only through Kabul International Airport. The e-visa is not yet accepted at land border crossings.

However, you can exit Afghanistan anywhere with the e-visa.

After the visa is issued, you must use it within three months. Once you enter Afghanistan, the visa is valid for 30 days.

3. MY GENERAL EXPERIENCE WITH APPLICATION FORM

I completed the entire application on my phone using the Google Chrome browser. I took my time filling out the form slowly and carefully without rushing.

Overall, the process was very straightforward and easy.

  • The questions were clear and simple.
  • I did not receive any error messages.
  • The system did not lock me out at any point.
  • You can move back and forward between pages, and the information you already entered is automatically saved, so you do not lose your progress.

From my experience, the platform works well and the form is easy to complete.

4. REMARKS & TIPS WHILE FILLING OUT THE AFGHAN E-VISA APPLICATION FORM

I recommend completing the entire application in one go without interruptions.

PASSPORT DATE OF ISSUANCE AND EXPIRY DATE

Carefully double-check the passport dates:

  • Passport date of issuance
  • Passport expiry date

At one point it looked like the system switched the dates, so it is worth verifying them before submitting the form.

VISA TYPE

Select Tourist.

VISA DURATION

There is only one option available, which is 3 months, so simply select that.

ENTRY DATE

The exact entry date is not very important. Once your visa is issued, you have three months to enter Afghanistan.

COMPLETE ADDRESS IN AFGHANISTAN

You can simply add any hotel address. For example, you can write Khyber Hotel Kabul.

SPONSOR SECTION

One of the questions asks: “Do you have a sponsor?”

You can select Yes or No. The form allows you to choose either option, which means that a Letter of Invitation does not appear to be strictly required.

In my case, I selected Yes because I had a Letter of Invitation (LOI) from the local tour agency I work with.

The system asked for:

  • Sponsor name
  • Taskira number
  • Address of the tour agency

There is limited space in the text field, so just write whatever you can if the full agency name does not fit.

The Taskira number could be easily copied and pasted.

As for the address, I typed it manually. One important detail is that the field does not allow punctuation marks or numbers. If there is a number in the address, write the number using letters instead of digits.

ATTACHMENTS

Uploading documents from the phone was very easy.

I uploaded:

  • A passport photo: The form will show the photo requirements and parameters. I simply uploaded the same photo that I usually use for visa applications.
  • A copy of my passport
  • My Hungarian ID
  • My Letter of Invitation as a screenshot

All files uploaded without any issues.

REMARKS

At the end of the form there was a remarks section where I could write additional comments. I simply wrote “Thank you.”

SIGNATURE

After completing the form, the system required a digital signature to finalize the application.

5. PAYMENT OF THE SERVICE FEE

After submitting the form, I received an email with a payment link. By clicking on the link, I was able to pay the online service fee, including the payment processing fee.

The total amount was:

$8.25 USD

Payment options were modern and convenient. I paid using Apple Pay, which worked smoothly.

One interesting technical detail regarding payment:

  • When I used a UAE VPN (NordVPN), the payment did not work.
  • When I turned the VPN off and used my normal internet connection in Hungary, it also did not work.
  • When I switched to a United States VPN, the payment went through successfully.

6. PAYING THE VISA FEE & RECEIVING MY AFGHAN E-VISA

Three hours after I submitted the application, I received an email asking me to complete the visa payment fee.

The visa fee was $120 USD, plus a payment processing fee of $3.71 USD, which made the total $123.71 USD.

As soon as I paid the visa fee, I immediately received another email confirming that my Afghan e-visa application had been approved, with my e-visa attached as a PDF.
