After landing at Queen Alia International Airport, I get my Jordan visa on arrival, unless I’m traveling with the Jordan Pass, which already includes it.

As I use an eSIM, I already have mobile data when I land, so I don’t need to think about buying a SIM card at the airport. I can simply leave the terminal and start heading to my hotel.

The best way to get from Amman Airport to the city center is to take the Airport Express Bus (Tabarbour) to the North Bus Station and continue from there by taxi.

HOW TO GET FROM AMMAN AIRPORT TO THE CITY CENTER

First, I take the Amman Airport to city center bus from Queen Alia International Airport to the North Bus Station (Tabarbour). Once I arrive there, I book a taxi to my hotel using Careem or Uber.

Although many people search for Amman city center, Amman does not have one clearly defined city center. Most travelers mean Downtown Amman (Al-Balad), although many hotels are located in areas such as Jabal Amman, Abdali, Shmeisani, and Sweifieh.

HOW FAR IS AMMAN AIRPORT FROM THE CITY CENTER?

Queen Alia International Airport is located approximately 35 km south of Downtown Amman (Al-Balad). If you take a direct taxi from the airport, the journey usually takes around 40 to 50 minutes, depending on traffic.

However, this is not the route I use. Instead, I take the Amman Airport Express Bus to the North Bus Station (Tabarbour), which is about 41–42 km from the airport.

Then, from there, if I take a taxi to Downtown Amman (Al-Balad), it’s another 6–7 km.

After leaving the Arrivals Hall, I head to the Airport Express Bus stop and ticket booth, which are located just outside the terminal.

I buy my ticket at the ticket booth before boarding the bus. The current fare is 3.40 JOD, and you can pay in cash or by Visa card.

The Amman Airport Express Bus normally runs every 30 minutes during the day and every hour at night and on Fridays.

The bus makes several stops before reaching its final destination, the North Bus Station, locally known as Tabarbour (مجمع طبربور). This is where I always get off before continuing my journey by taxi.

Once I arrive at the North Bus Station (Tabarbour), I order a taxi to my hotel.

The two most popular ride-hailing apps in Jordan are Careem and Uber. Both work well throughout Amman, but I normally use Careem because it is a bit cheaper than Uber.
